| These rare 2000 P US Golden Dollars from the Philadelphia Mint may not seem so uncommon, yet the coins are from only 5000 pieces presented to the highly acclaimed artist and sculptor; Glenna Goodacre. Famous not only for her depiction of Sacagawea for this coin, but for many life size bronze statues and memorials. Ms. Goodacre was awarded $5000.00 for her winning submission to the US Mint. Goodacre was very wise to select payment in the coins she helped create. Each coin was then authenticated by ICG one of the top independent coin grading services and numbered them 1 to 5000. Ms. Goodacre was instrumental in seeing that these were not bought up by one or two big buyers and assigned marketing to H.E. Harris and Co to sell only 1 coin per credit card number. In Six years of searching, we are one number away from building a 6 coin ladder set of consecutively numbered coins. This accomplishment has taken a great deal of time and effort, even now as the search continues. No, we have not given up the search and will continue to build this set on either end of the ladder of consecutive numbers. If you have interest in this set or would enjoy taking over the quest to build this important set of historical pieces. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to build a truly unique collection of Goodacre Presentation Dollars. Please consider the VAM rarity scale to the right, with only 5000 pieces these coins qualify as R5 on this rarity scale despite the millions of Sacagawea coins minted, only 5000 of these coins will ever exist that can be attributed to Glenna Goodacre's Presentation Dollars. Consider this valuation of one coin found available elsewhere If you are already interested in these coins, you may know the controversy these coins created. The US Mint first claimed the coins had been specially burnished then treated with an antioxidant to provide a special finish for presentation to Glenna Goodacre. The coins were sent off to ICG who decided that because of this special finishing of the coins, they could not be given a numerical grade being they truly were not a mint state or typical uncirculated or business strike coin typical of normal production practices followed by the US Mint. Please see the following references Coin World news release Coin World news release Each Goodacre Presentation coin that ICG encapsulated for Ms. Goodacre did not receive a grade but was authenticated only as a Glenna Goodacre Presentation coin. Fast forward a few months and since the other grading services missed out on this opportunity, they decided the coins made by the US Mint were indeed a standard US Mint product and after countless claims by the US Mint that they did not treat these coins with any special handling or finishing procedures. ( The US Mint came under investigation that special handling of these coins constituted wrong doings and intent to create a specialized rarity for an individual had been produced ) The US mint quickly retracted their initial claim that the coins had undergone any special handling or treatment. This controversy still surrounds these coins and the US Mint's recanted claims then opened the door for PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) and other grading services to begin assigning a grade to the Goodacre coins. ICG still will not assign a grade to the Goodacre Presentation Dollars as they continue to stand by their original decision that these coins had been specially created with special finishing and treatment and do not constitute a typical coin made for circulation and had been given special handling to create a rarity coin of significant difference than a typical coin created for circulation . Despite the claims and controversy behind these coins, this set will continue to grow as we find the coins we need, not only in the number of coins, but in the values they will represent. With 17 coins in this collection, with continued growth, the upside and increase in the future could amaze even the most seasoned collector of numismatic rarities. To obtain one of the numbers we needed for this ladder run of Goodacres, we had to purchase an ICG Signature Series of Sacagawea coins that included autographed 2000 and 2001 coins signed by the reverse design artist, Tom Rogers, and the model Glenna Goodacre asked to portray Sacagawea for her design, Randy L Hedow Teton. These signature coins were limited to 10,000 sets which include 2 coins from each mint and the proof coin for that year, one set autographed by Tom Rogers while the other set is autographed by Randy L Hedow Teton With that said, it demonstrates our determination where we had to purchase 12 additional coins to obtain the one number we needed. Then the idea came to us, "what if you could collect a ladder run of Goodacres with all the Signature Series coins with matching numbers?" For example, the Signature Series set of Sacagawea coins we purchased matched number 3350 Goodacre Presentation Coin. Perhaps we can obtain all of the matching Signature Series sets for all the matching Goodacre dollar we have ? So if you have numbers close to #3350 either way, email us, call, send up smoke signals if you must but we are interested in both Signature sets containing Goodacres and / or stand alone truly authenticated and verifiable numbered Goodacre coins from ICG or if it had been graded by the other grading services and the original ICG number and insert has been retained to provide verification we need your coins. Do not forget we are looking for Signature Series sets in this number range also. It is not real hard to figure out which coins we need but if you own a Goodacre near # 3350 Please contact us and we will provide a strong offer for your coin or coins if they are the ones we need.
